My Life Is Average Mondays: Shopping Ups and Downs

The other day, I went shopping by myself. I stopped in a few standards stores and lastly, I went to the Gap.

I saw a great pair of pants.

They were regular sized, but "cropped" so I thought that they might fit me. Surprisingly, they did.

But I still wasn't sure. I remembered that there was a shirt I wanted from Gap, an online exclusive, so I put down the pants and I left.

When I got home, I checked my links, only to find out that the shirt I wanted is from Calvin Klein, not Gap at all!  I was disappointed, but I decided that I still wanted the pants so I headed to Gap's website. I found that the same pants, on sale for 30 bucks at the store, was 13.99 online! I clicked with glee. When it was time to check out, I noticed that the price didn't budge. Upon checking back, it wasn't the black that was on sale for thirteen dollars, it was another color. And that color only had a few large sizes left.

In the store, the sale ends today and the pants go back to being 50 bucks tomorrow. Shopping is disappointing sometimes. Now I'm just trying to convince myself that the pants didn't actually fit that well.

See the scrunches near my behind? It's something not filling out right. I'll find more pants fit for short people right? Right.

  1. That's always a sort of feeling of defeat when you realize that something that you thought was on sale, isn't. And just as bad when things don't fit properly!

  4. Gosh, It's so difficult to find a nice pair of perfect fitting pants for short people. I would know; I'm 5'1".

I hope those pants go back on sale soon!

  5. I'm in the short club too. Pants either need to be hemmed or cut. Although I've never had a problem filling out the backside ;)

  7. I've always hated shopping for pants, but I just recently found a pair from the Gap that fit me perfectly. It really sucks that the pants you wanted were not on sale :(

  8. Shopping for pants can be so annoying. I'm really short, so I completely understand. I'm sure you'll find some more pants for shorter people soon!

  9. Petite pants are too short for me and regular pants are too long! I'm 5'3" but my legs are 3'2" of my total height (I'm very short-waisted). I've thought several times over the years that I need to learn to sew, but thankfully skinny jeans almost always work for me! I'm too lazy to make my own pants!

  11. BDG cropped pants from Urban Outfitters have worked for me in the past. Petite pants can be a pain. :/

  14. Inconsistent pricing between stores and their web sites frustrate me, though I understand why they do it with all the sales, discounts, etc.. Too bad about the pants, I think you look great in them!

  15. Sometimes shopping can be a total bitch. In a way that's the joy of it though, right? If it was a success every single time, I'd get bored. I think that's just one in a long line of reasons why I love thrifting. I never know if it's going to be a good day or if I'm going to leave with nothing..

Hope you find some pants you like soon :)

  16. Aww... I really thought you were going to score a good deal with those pants. $13.99 would've been a good deal. Sorry, it wasn't the one in your size or color. I'm part of the group that has a hard time finding a size in pants. I have to go for pants that are short in length too. Regulars sometimes are okay, but most of them do drag on the ground when I wear them.

Hope you'll find the pants you will like for a great deal too. :)

  18. Good job talking yourself out of wanting those pants. Now if you could do the same for me and "insert new cookbooks that i'm obsessed with here"...I'd be super grateful.

  24. You'll find better pants for sure, but yeah, those were some good pants from the pictures. =P I know just how you feel about missing out on a good deal! It's heart-wrenching! (Maybe I'm being a little over-dramatic about it though!) =P

  25. Aww, what a shame! I hate when that type of thing happens! :/
And the pants looked so nice on you!

  26. I would convince myself not that the pants didn't fit, but that I don't need them. Because, in reality, how often do we really need another pair of pants? This is life.

  27. Oh I so hate when that happens!! The good thing is that Gap has crazy awesome deals relatively often so even if you don't get this exact pair, it's VERY likely that you'll find an even better pair / style later. The length in particular does look very good on you!

  30. Meri - You're definitely right. I'm a little bit annoyed but a little thankful as well.

erica marie - I'm curious to know what kind of pants you purchased.

Lauren - That's a rough places to be in. I need petite pants, but not pants that are small, just pants that are short.

iris - That's true. Even when you kind of need them, you don't need, need them.
