Thank you for your Patronage!

I started my blog with a simple "Hello" and the gloomy statistic that most bloggers who start don't last 6 months. A year later, I definitely still am going on. In the scope of my life, I have to admit that this past year has been a pretty good year and blogging has only made it better. I've learned so much from blogs. I've learned about the economy and I've been shown career advice; I've learned so much about how to cook and about ways to stay healthy; I've learned makeup tricks and all about the products to buy; I've learned about what brands fit short girls and where I can get the best deals on clothing. I don't know how many of you realize this, but blogging is an all encompassing... guide to life.

What is 7% Solution going to be up to in the next year? I have a few goals...

1. Better content with better writing. Improving my writing was one of my original Solutions. However, I can't say how much I've really tried with this one. Sometimes, after taking, uploading and editing all the pictures, I feel like I've already put enough effort into one post and I can't really be bothered anymore. But, I suppose I should always go back and make sure that everything that I write is clear. It's one of my biggest problems.

2. More contact. You guys have probably noticed, but I added a Contact Me! Tab to the top. This is step one in my quest to have more contact with my fellow bloggers. I comment on your blogs and you comment on mine, but I want to get into more intimate posts, outfit challenges, that type of thing. Blogs are, after all, for connecting, right? I deleted my twitter account a while ago, but I wasn't using that to connect with anyone anyways. I want to get to know you better.

3. Leaving real comments. I hate, hate, hate it when I go on your blog, look at an outfit /dish/post you've put time into... and I can't say anything but "Nice hat." Or "That looks delicious." Or "I agree." Starting a few months ago, I've really tried to improve this by trying to carry on a conversation through comments as well as by really taking the time to think before I call something lovely/gorgeous/beautiful/cute. If I leave a comment like this on your blog, I'm sorry. I'm trying my best to improve.

With that, I'm sure you all want to see, what's coming in the future? Anything... new?

1. Vlog. I can't say for sure if this one is coming or not. I don't want to give false impressions because I'm not going to start vlogging on a weekly basis or even frequently. But there may be a little project in the works with another blogger. We'll see where it goes!

2. Different types of posts. When I look at my blog, it's really no surprise that I've gained a ton of weight. All I do is eat. I think food related posts take up the biggest chunk of the pie here. (Yummmm. Pie.) So I'm thinking about doing more makeup/product reviews as well as getting back on track and taking more outfit posts. But in addition, I also want to look into a few new types of posts... lemme know if you're interested!

- Fashion - Blogging has gotten me so interested in trends. Some people are trend followers, some are trend leaders and some are trend ignorers... but either way, it's definitely there. I think of myself as a trend follower. Occasionally a trend leader. I'm thinking about documenting my quest for some clothing items again. Example with boots here

- Hauls - Since I do buy things based off trends, my purchases are composed of trendy items. I feel like I don't buy that much but I've definitely amassed quite a bit of clothing. Asking for your opinions in a timely manner might help me return some of it, no?

- Career - I've given a few pieces of career advice in regards to professionalism in dress, but there's so much that I've learned and so much more that I have yet to learn. This topic is interesting to me, but is it to anyone else?

In another, mostly unrelated train of thought, do any of you have any questions for me? I don't care what they are, or how personal they are (within reason, you know. And I get to decide). I'm looking to compile a question bank and answer some of these questions in a future post.

  2. Props on the blog resolutions! It's always good to have goals and push for them, or else you get stuck. There's always, always room for improvement! :D

  3. Great that you managed to not become a statistic and Happy Birthday to your blog! I really liked this post and how you set guidelines for where you want to go with your blog, sometimes blogging becomes less fun but having a good structure on what you want to do helps writing post easier.

I look forward to see where you go with your blog, and really do enjoy "lifestyle" blogs, a little bit of everything is good!

  4. Happy Birthday to 7% Solution! I'm really proud of you for lasting a year, because I totally understand how hard it can be, especially going in with a statistic like that!

  7. happy birthday to your blog dear! so awesome how you have so many big plans for your blog. I love blogging, but i get so lazy sometimes. I always have new things to post and never get around to doing it, and then it gets outdated and i don't even post it at all.
    ahhhh i need to prioritize

  8. happy blog birthdayyyy! I, for one, would love to read some professionalism posts. It gives me my dose of office-related job stuff that my lab job basically tosses in a giant heap out the window.

  9. Congratulations on sticking with it. I started my blog about a year and a half ago and I've found that it's really become one of my favorite hobbies.

Re content and writing: I think you're doing a great job of balancing your blog topics. The variety of stories you provide, along with your friendly writing style is what keeps me coming back. Keep it up.

Also- I wouldn't mind a vlog. Mostly because I'm nosy like that. :)

  12. Hi Aki, Happy birthday !i started my blog in June 2010 and stopped in August 2010 when i met Mr. D but with the firm intention to go back to blogging - When i started in 2010, i did not know what direction to take, i started with street style and sometimes i would include a post of my outfits - My friends urged me to do so, since they thought i had a great personal style.

Consenquently, i slowly made the transition to personal style but still wanting to photograph people on the street which i did when i started again in April 2011 but now my post are more about my personal style - I find that my photographic skills greatly improved over the months, and i am letting myself go when it comes to my personal style and pretty happy about it because i am letting the real Ariane come through.

My writing skills in english are not perfect since it is not my mother tongue, there is still room for improvement- I do not pretend to be a writer and i am ok with it.

But my goal is to have fun with the blog and that is i think the most important thing for me.

Keep up the good work Aki!

    Ariane

  19. Happy blogiversary! Personally I have a hard time thinking of smart things to say in comments. Sometimes there really is nothing to say except, "I love your hat!" So I don't say it unless I mean it.

  20. Congrats hun. I love your blog and appreciate your comments on my own. I'll look forward to more reviews but I just want to say that I do enjoy your lifestyle posts very much. 33. these are great goals! I'm with you on a lot of them, but my main goals is to blog more! And I definitely with you on the comments, I try not be to too generic, but it's easier to comment more when you kinda feel like you already know them a little, and that's when it's fun!

  35. Congratulations on your achievement. As we see blogs come and go, lasting a full year is real success.

And I can see how you reached it: your blog is entertaining. Your willingness to engage readers, explore various subjects and offer pretty pictures is admirable.

  36. congratulations for a great yr! i agree that blogging really is for connecting. i find it shallow how some bloggers do it, you know bloghop and not really read but just rely on photos for a quick comment. i enjoyed reading this blog and for one i can totally relate since i really did start to improve writing too. AND connect with more people. hope you have a great yr ahead :D and DONT STOP BLOGGING :)

  37. Woohoo! Congrats, Aki! I'm hoping to last a year (at the very least) in blogging as well. I'm excited about everything you're planning to do. Vlog = YES! For some reason I'm always curious about how my favorite bloggers sound like. :) And yup, pasted/trite comments are annoying.

It's especially annoying when they comment ONE word and then write an entire paragraph of links or how you should follow them etc. lol

ps. yep, those satchels would look cute with a lovely schoolgirl outfit. xx

  39. I love all of the new ideas you have for your blog. I'm coming up on my blog's first anniversary too, and am shocked (shocked, I say!) that I've hung in this long.

I think once you immerse yourself in the blogging community and see all of the awesome information (on every aspect of life, as you mentioned) and great people that are out there, becomes hard stay away (at least for me). I think that having awesome people to talk to/share with is one of the main reasons I keep blogging.

Happy Birthday to your blog and congrats to you for sticking around! I really love reading your posts, so it would suck if you got bored and went away ;)
