Leopard Print

I used to think that Leopard Print was so tacky and trashy. It used to be something that only really trashy people wear.

Then, I realized that curvy black women looked great in it.

Then I thought that older white woman could look good in it too.

My journey in accepting animal bring has been fraught with generalizations, misconceptions and stereotypes.  But now I think that even I can look good in it. Anyone can.

I still don't agree with wearing it head to toe, but scarves, nails, bags, cardigans, coats and shoes can always be printed! I hope the print will very forgive me for my earlier comments.  It's not tacky, it's not trashy. It depends on how it's worn!

How do you feel about animal prints?

  1. I think that if worn correctly, animal prints are a great way to jazz up an otherwise typical ensemble. I have a great little leopard print cardigan that I love wearing at just these times.

    1. That's something I love on others and want to work myself, but I just haven't gotten to it yet.

  3. Definitely a cute print in small doses and original colour. I can't stand when it comes in an array of hideous neon colours. The first picture still makes it look trashy but I love the shorts in the last picture.

  4. I actually wear lots of leopard print. And even if some not well-informed people tell me that "I would wear leopard print from head to toe if it wasn´t tackey!", I tell them, "You gotta learn how to make it right!"

Welcome to the animal print world.

  11. I'm right there with you. At first, I thought animal print was a NO. Exactly like that first picture, but it can be really classy when toned down with other pieces. I, myself, have even worn a few leopard things and I loved it each time.

  12. Now this looks like a blog I can get in to :) following!!! I do agree with you and at one time I certainly held the same opinion of leopard print, but as much as my opinion has changed I think in each outfit it should be worn in moderation just as something to add some "spice" to your look. Unless you are one of those people who can pull it off. Its a shame you weren't around in the 70s to tell them whats what about animal print :P

  18. I agree with you.. it's all about how it's worn. I love animal print (mainly leopard and giraffe) and think that wearing a cool printed piece is the easiest way to jazz up a boring outfit ;)

  23. Leopard Print is nothing but awesome!!!!!!!!
I have the inability to accept zebra prints but leopard prints...YES!
I think head to toe is a black idea.
I think tight leopard print might also be a bad idea but i keep imagining an awesome sweater dress (long sleeved) in cream leopard print and it sounds awesome.
So glad i am following your blog.
