Jason Wu For Target is here!

As some of you may know, today Target released Jason Wu's collection. I woke up at 8, when the store opens. But I didn't want to see over-eager so I moseyed around my house before leaving a nine. Mistake. I was expecting a zoo when I got to the store but it was very calm. Why? The racks were already picked over. I just picked up and tried on whatever caught my eye and was in my size. It didn't add up to a lot.

The first thing I got was a polkadotted navy blouse with a necktie. It's made of a really light material that would be perfect for summer. This was the only piece I picked up in extra small and it was indeed, too small for me. I thought this was cute, but too small and not exactly my style. I've seen a few other girls tuck this in but I liked the casual look.  I can't justify a blouse at 34.99 even if I love how it's cut.

I also picked up this nice little t-shirt dress. I was in love with the colors but the draping didn't work for me on all levels. Front view was awesome!

Side view, not so much. It clung on my chest and my behind awkwardly. The material (lovely, but cotton) and the draping on my body was not good enough to justify 34.99. And I'm also cheap. What?

I'm smirking in this picture because I love this dress. It's super light and chiffony and it comes with a belt.

Sorry for the next two headless pictures. I got upset at my camera (any tips on fitting room photos?!?). I was really sold on the cinching at the bust, the ruffles and the patterns. I spent a few minutes spinning in the fitting room because the skirt was so lovely.

The side profile isn't bad either. This was 39.99, which might be the most expensive dress I've ever purchased in my life. Should I keep it? I do desperately want something from the collection. How do you think it'll compare to the usual H&M and Forever 21 spring dresses? I'm not sure if it's unique. Please let me know your thoughts!

Please also check out other reviews! SewPetiteGirl has one up!

  1. You look lovely in the chiffon dress. I think the quality of the dress is better than the usual H&M and F21. The pleating is unique and very sophisticated. I think it'll last for many seasons. I bet F21 will come out with a similar dress, but it won't be as detailed as this one, and it'll likely cost only $5 less. Keep it.

  5. I haven't yet seen the Jason Wu for Target collection, but I'm going tomorrow... I think the last dress looks very sweet on you. It's Jason Wu, and for the price- keep it! I personally can't afford anything expensive either, so these collaborations are a great way of getting a brand name for less! This review is amazing, I also adore Target, and I am glad you found my blog! I am now following you, and I really hope you can join my blog as well so we can stay in touch! I love to see what others get while on a budget like myself :)
    Have a lovely week!
    Good luck!

  7. Thanks for the reviews! I appreciate that you did multiple angles of each item because I'm always too lazy to do that :) I added your link to my post too. You look great in the dress! I think the best part about it is that you can always layer a top over it to make it look like separates.

  9. Awesome finds! I really like the blue dress you got! Eek, the prices kind of scare me, but the items are really cute! I'm going to Target tomorrow for errand shopping, but want to check out what they have in this collection

  10. yes! the last dress is a keeper! but yes, i am cheap too! but the difference i guess is that since it's from a famous designer's collection, it'll be a bit more expensive. x_x. some h&m (whether designed by a famous designer or not) range from 30-50 bucks too!

  15. i think the floral dress is really cute on u! i have not gone to see the items in person so i can't speak for the quality & how it compares to H&M & F21. i wasn't super wowed by the collection like i thought i would. prob because i don't like floral stuff lol.

oh & i only used 1 coat of the mascara in the pictures. the mascara is quite thick so quite a lot goes on the lashes in 1 coat. =]

  19. Pros: the length of the dress hits you just right (makes your calves look really nice), side profile rocks, love the yellow belt at the waist for figure, that navy color is pretty good with your skin tone.
Cons: I don't like the flowers (maybe just picture and not in real life), for some reason I don't like the cinching at the bust (might be picture too...2D and all)
So I would get it (Pros > Cons that may be due to 2D picture). It's a summer dress--you live in AZ. Investment? ;)

  23. That last dress looked better ON than it did on the site Aki (which I found to be the case with most items). I think you look too cute in it and it fit well. Hope you got it. Great dress! I'm still tired from the ordeal this weekend! HAHAHA Have a great week.

  24. We don't have Targets here but the floral blue dress looks great. I think a bigger belt would justify it though, why not try around with other outfits, blazers, sweater, cardigan that you have, maybe you'll like it more than you think loll I never think about returning things after purchasing :( it's good that you care what your moneys worth after buying something xD

  25. Ah! I got the last dress also, and I LOVE it. It looks really pretty on you, you should totally keep it. I tried on that striped one too, and it was a bit awkward.

  30. I think you should keep the floral dress...it made you smile! I tried on the polka dot top too and didn't like how it was so drapy and boxy on me. I did love that cotton orange and blue dress.

  31. It looks so pretty on you! I especially love the striped dress (the second from the bottom). I almost forgot about the date and should check it out (hope it's not too late..!) xo akiko

  37. I like the chiffon dress a lot. Hope you kept/are keeping it! The one nice thing about being a plus size is you can skip the Target designer collection madness knowing not a gosh darn thing was going to fit you anyway (ok, so I did wiggle my way into one thing from the Rodarte release) I heard that people were buying the whole collection to just resell it online, though, which is totally not cool.
