Suave Dry Shampoo

This dry shampoo ended on some people's most hated list for the year and some other people's most loved list for the year. As for me, this was the first dry shampoo that I've tried. First obvious pro: its price. It's only 2.74.

Otherwise, I feel like it's alright. It has a decent amount of product, especially for the price. When I first used it, I was shocked at how much of a white cast it made on my light black hair. That quickly disappears as you rub it in. If you don't rub it in though, beware! This stuff makes your head itch like you just sprayed lice on... if you don't rub it in. That's an extremely important step.

I think this works relatively well as a hair refresher. It smells strongly of citrus, but the smell is unique so that if someone leans in, they might be able to tell what you used. I find that this gives my hair the volume it needs so that it doesn't look like greasy, second day hair. I want to try out more dry shampoos, but I'd have no issue with repurchasing this one.

Have you seen this product around? Do you have a favorite dry shampoo?

  1. I've been wanting to try this! I literally laughed out loud when I read, "...like you sprayed lice on." Haha!

Thanks for this review. :) I've seen this product floating around the internet too, and it's great to see a different opinion of it.

  5. For some reason, dry shampoo just makes my hair feel gross. I've tried so many of them, and weirdly enough, I get the best results from baby powder. When rubbed in correctly, haha.

    1. That's quite strange! I don't know if I'm willing to try baby powder yet.

  7. I have Treseme, but I don't really like it. The smell leaves something to be desired and it makes my hair feel stiff (but not like hairspray stiff).

    1. Strange... I hate the stiff hair feeling though so I think I'll skip that. Thanks!

  12. This sounds like it's a really good dry shampoo, especially since it isn't expensive at all. Currently I'm using Batiste Hint of Color, but that one leaves a grey cast on my hair if you don't rub it in. Other than that, it works great!

  13. I've used the dry shampoo called 'Psssst' and it works very well! It's also very inexpensive.

  16. You know, I've never tried dry shampoo before, but there are so many days when I wish I could bring some life back into my flat, oily hair! Maybe I should try this sometime!

  17. Thank you for this review! Actually, I've always wanted to try a dry shampoo, but was kind of scared of it (itching?)... this one is relatively cheap, so maybe I'll give it a try! :)
    Good luck!

  18. I've tried several different kinds of dry shampoo but it never does the job for me. My hair simply just gets uber greasy if I don't wash it everyday. It's a great price though!

  22. i haven't tried this particular dry shampoo before, but i think it's worth a shot, especially at that price! for hair products, not your mother's brand has a lot of good ones. they also have dry shampoo. :)

  25. I've never tried dry shampoo, though I've read a lot about another popular brand, Batiste. Sounds like an interesting concept, though.

  26. I haven't tried this one!! I've heard that the Bumble & Bumble one is good but it's pricey so I haven't tried it yet.

  30. I have tried a couple of kinds of dry shampoos, but none of them seem to work for me. I'm pretty sure it is because I do it wrong, though.

  32. My hair is so fine that dry shampoo doesn't really do that job. I feel like I need real shampoo every day. Great review though. If it's that cheap, I'll definitely check it out. :)

  33. I can't figure if i love or hate this product. Some days it works wonder, others I feel like it is a waste of money. I wouldn't mind buying it when it is on sale but definitely wish I could find one that I love every day.

  36. I have a little bottle of Tresemme dry shampoo but I've only used it once. Honestly I'm not too thrilled with it, I think it is gunky, but I am fairly certain it is user error here, not the shampoo!
