Another Cheap Dress

As I purchase more work clothes, I'm really noticing what a difference lined and unlined pieces make. I absolutely love the cut and color of this skirt. (Taupe is not only trendy during the winter, but I'm boring enough to have it as one of my all time favorite colors. Along with camel, tan and beige.) I even love the light material! However, because it's unlined, it's so easy to have VPL.

Dress: Forever 21 (19.80)
Necklace: GoFavor (7.99)
Shoes: Aldo Arnoldoa (70.00)

I really struggle to find nice work pieces that I won't sweat bullets in. These pieces include dresses that aren't thick and shirts that have sleeves and aren't sheer. Unfortunately, this brings up an entirely new set of issues. Ah, whatever. Might as well enjoy what I have now!

  4. Lovely dress - it's a beautiful colour on you! And yes lining is very important - so many pieces of clothing require dedicated slips and other undergarments because they're so transparent!

  5. I love it! It's very figure flattering! Dude, I color coordinated my closet yesterday...and realized that like 75% of my dresses are in the white to black or neutral color range...

  11. Taupe is not boring. I just painted my nails a matte taupe! I feel the same way about work clothes, it's uncomfortable to wear a high waisted skirt and blazer all the time at the office. This is a great look that's practical too

  16. It is so tough to find good work dresses - I typically shop at j.crew for all of mine. Taupe is a good colour on you!

  26. You made the discovery early. I generally don't buy dresses without lining for the very issue...it is see through and adding a slip is never fun. Although the only time I make the sacrifice I for a Dvf silk wrap dress...of the 6 I own only 1 is lined. Clothing quality isn't what it used to be, when I started working 8 years ago most of my work attire was from banana republic and Ann taylor. Places that sold 100% wool and silk pieces with lining in their pants and dresses. Now it's hard to find 100% anything from those 2 places except polyester which I dont like.....
