I'm Sick of these Words!

via weheartit
I've always had a special connection with words. I love them. In fact, it's my favorite part of music. I think of music as words set to a wonderful beat. It's no surprise that I love listening to Spoken Word. When Meg from Meg's Mind made a post about words, she inspired me to do the same. I'm sick of some of the words she is!

I'm making some very silly faces as I write them.

What else in the business world am I sick of?

Future
Development
Inclusion
Strategy
Global
Branding
Leadership
Opportunity

I feel like these are all empty words that people throw around. But they're not just in business, they're in blogging too. You've all heard of:

"Pop of Color"
"Arm Party"
"Vintage"

What words, blogging or otherwise, are you just SICK of?

  3. "Obsessed" I've used it a couple of times, but I try to refrain from using it. Seems like everyone is obsessed.

  4. Hmm...actually, none! I haven't really noticed repetitive words. Haha, bet I'll notice it after this.

  5. I've totally never heard arm party before and had to look it up. I already don't like it.

  8. This is a great and fun idea for a post, I must agree on most of these words you've mentioned. I think I am over any word having to do with Twilight and vampires.

  9. Hrrm... synergies, originality and passion - I feel like people use those words way too freely

  10. Not to do with blogging (well maybe SOME bloggers) but I am totally over ALL political words.

  11. haha...i'm not in business so I don't hear those words often. But I'm definitely guilt of using "pop of color" and "arm party" occasionally!

  12. Haha, actually the word I can't stand right now is "oxblood" as another word for the burgundy color. Why would anyone want to be wearing oxblood. It doesn't make any sense to me. It's burgundy, just call it burgundy! :)

    1. I actually love this word... but for the same reasons you hate it. It's just so goofy! I have no idea why it was so popular.

  13. Well, I don't mind any of these words, and I even use them from time to time. But I always try to pay attention to the context, and not to throw them around too casually. And as Lilli said, I'm beyond sick of all those "follow me, I'll follow back" comments. They are stupid, disrespectful and really annoying!

  14. I would say I'm sick of 'stash' and 'swatches' especially when I read it on Dutch language blogs... I'm like why you try to impress with your English words.. Just write in English OR in Dutch. Business which I would have to say I'm sick of well many words hahaha! Especially the ones that are related to 'empty pages' (I'm a journalist)

  15. I don't mind hearing some of these buzz words but every sentence following what not annoys me....

  16. Haha, I use "pop of color" a lot! I shudder when I hear "this, that, and the other" bc an ex used to say it ALL the time.

    1. On the subject of exes, I also dated a jerk who kept asking me, "What else do you want to know about me?" [insert massive eye roll here]

  18. EEEEEEK thanks for the shout out! I am SO behind on my blog reading and I just now saw this! Besides the list I posted, I catch myself saying "epic" a lot, which is kind of embarrassing.
