My Life is Average Mondays: Pet Names

I don't usually write about loooove and relationships, but this has been on my mind lately.

Pet names.

There are some pet names that I hate (hubby, the boyfriend, the boy) but I've recently found out about how fun pet names can be.

Specifically, you can add bear to ANYTHING and form a pet name. Take the first letter of your significant other's name (J Bear). Or use their entire name (Jenny Bear). Or draw inspiration from cuteness and cartoons (Honey Bear, Pooh Bear). You can even go further and add "Bear" to regular pet names (Sweetie Bear, Cutie Bear, Baby Bear). It's just all so adorable!

Do you use pet names or are they all annoying to you?

  3. i think petnames can be cute to a certain degree. When it's overly cute, it just gets kind of annoying.
My boyfriend and i don't really have pet names for each other, we're so uncreative lol.
I usually just call him hunnie or Bee (short for baby)

    1. I think that if I don't like the couple, anything they do is annoying. Hahaha. Very subjective.

  4. I'm not really a fan of pet names. Eric and I will call each other "honey" or "lover" if we're trying to be funny (like the SNL skit with Will Ferrell and Drew Barrymore), but that's just in the confines of our own home.

I HATE when people refer to guys/ men as "boys" or "the boys." It's so patronizing.

    1. I saw an SNL skit where 2 douchebags just referred to each other as "babe". Oh SNL... pulling the same jokes over and over again.

  5. Cute pet names! We don't really use pet names in our family.. We just come up with really odd nicknames such as Pooda, Baby Boo, or something different.

  6. Babe, baby and all versions thereof make me want to pull out my hair. Otherwise...I don't mind. I think Doctor Who has made me unreasonably partial to sweetie haha.

  9. I honestly detest pet names like "baby" or "babe", but "belle" and "sweetheart" are some exceptions. :)

  10. That's actually kind of cute. I'll admit I do call Matt "the boyfriend" sometimes when I talk about him to others, but that's all. Other than that we use names. No honey, baby, boo, sweetie. All that stuff drives us both nuts.

  11. This is such a cute post, I actually add bear to all the names of my little cousins - I think a creation few pet names are okay only for anyone under ten

  13. I actually hate some pet names. "hubby," "babe," "baby," "boo" are some that cannot stand. But I call my husband lots of other things, mostly ridiculous names that border on the offensive.

  17. Haha, I definitely agree that there are some pet names I don't like (hubby mostly...!). I just call my boyfriend "b" or "G" (the first letter of his name). Keepin' it simple! Maybe I'll have to add "G Bear" into the mix, haha.

  20. They're pretty much ALL annoying to me. I don't know why - maybe it's because it's something I've just never been used to

  21. lol I used to call my ex "Belgium" because people call their significant others muffins or cupcakes... which I guess it's too "mushy" for me. So I called him Belgium, for Belgium Waffles

  22. Okay so Paul will probably kill me for putting this out into the internet universe but his pet name is "booty" and when he pops up on my phone/car radio when calling it states "A Booty" (because he got mad that he wasnt the first # in my phone hello abc order!) Not too long ago, I was riding in my car with my sister and A Booty pops up ... he's on speaker and she's like do you know that it says A Booty when you call ... totally busted! I got her back by changing her name in my phone to "snookie" since her name is Nicole! I know I am evil!

  24. I don't think I have pet names for Wes. I know I have used hubby when writing on the blog but I don't actually use that in real life. I have pet names for my pets. HAHA! For ex. one of my dogs is named Jade. That turned into to Jadey-Poo Poo and we now call her Poo-Poo and lots of other variations of that. Weird! :-)

  26. This is fantastic and awesome because I also add "bear" to the end of everything! My husband and I make up names for each other and our pet on a daily basis. They are funny because they are so random. I started calling my dog Monkey Bear (who knows why) and now he gets weird combinations of that (Monkey Butt, Bubble Bear, Fuzzy Bear, etc). It's so fun!
