I haven't purchased a mascara in what seems like FOREVER. For the longest time, I gave up on mascara. The one that I owned was a flaker so our relationship didn't last too long. Also, that mascara was impossible to remove. It may have been that I was trying to remove it incorrectly... but let's just say it was not on my good side.
After a long break, I was ready to get back into the game. I opted for a waterproof formula this time, since I heard that that's what you need to keep your eyelash curl. Below, you can see the packaging. Maybelline claims that this is a gel-mousse mascara... I have no idea what that means. They also boast that this mascara is never brittle or flaky, something I was looking forward to.
Below, you can see both the container and the brush. Both are pretty standard fare for Maybelline, I think. I don't know if I love it. It doesn't flake, that's for sure. However, it is still quite difficult to remove. It doesn't do too much for volume. I put it on and my lashes feel spidery, not full by any means. Even after putting several coats on, it still doesn't feel full.
It smells a little bit weird, but that might only be because I put the wand to my nose and inhaled. I do have to say that this is fabulous at keeping my curl. While I've learned through this product to always bet on black stick with waterproof, I'm still searching for the perfect mascara.

I admittedly haven't had the best luck with Maybelline mascara. If you want to stick with drugstore, I have had good luck with L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon (it's a charcoal colored tube with a gold cap) It's waterproof and you need makeup remover to get it off, but I think it works pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI think I should get better makeup remover too.
DeleteNice review, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! I've never really done well with Maybelline mascaras. My current go to is CoverGirl Lash Blast.

Thanks for the review ... that wand just creeps me out just seems like once you go to put it on it will kink and mascara will be everywhere below my eye instead of on my lashes.

My eyelashes aren't long enough for that to happen. >.<
DeleteI never used this mascara from Maybelline! I like to try different ones, at the moment I'm using one from Rimmel and Kiko but Im looking the perfect one too! I didnt know that waterpoof type keep the lashes curl, good to know it!:) xo
ReplyDeletefinding a perfect mascara is like a unicorn!
ReplyDeletei like l'oreal mascaras in general. i liked falsies but i am not very impressed by maybelline's mascaras. weird, right?
i've recently started using the collagen volume wp mascara (Larie recommended it) and i really like it. my other favorite is the false fiber one. all wp, of course.
I've never heard it described better. There are a lot of awful mascaras. Good ones too... but perfect? Not so much.

I've never tried that one, but my go to mascara has always been Lancome. Ill try other ones but always go back!
ReplyDeleteI also have problem on having my lashes turning into "spider" looking especially with Maybelline mascara :\
ReplyDeleteHmm I haven't tried this mascara and still feel like I'm on the search for a good one too. I do like Maybelline's Great Lash "Lots of Lashes" mascara though
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried this one before. I've been using Clinique's high impact mascara for years and love it.
ReplyDeleteI used to love Mabelline's Sky High Lashes...I haven't used it in awhile so I'm not even sure they make it anymore. I'm using Revlon's Telescopic now and I love it.

Thanks for your honest review, I haven't tried this one by Maybelline as yet. My favourite mascara is benefit's bad gal lashes, it does amazing things!
ReplyDeleteI don't love all of Maybelline's mascaras but my favorite is the one that comes in the yellow tube called Magnum Mascara. I use the non-waterproof version on my makeup clients because waterproof is too difficult to remove and the non-waterproof variant really really doesn't smudge! I haven't tried the blue tube that you just reviewed, but if you're not crazy about it, maybe I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, as usual :)
Sounds like this is one we aren't going to try. Thanks for your review!!

I've tried Maybelline, and had pretty fair luck with them, I tried Falsies and liked it, but I notice that I revert back to my go-tos especially lately... I use Lancome and Agnes b. & love those. Thanks for the review. /Madison
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm loving Mac's Extreme Dimension mascara. It gives off a bold black look on my lashes, which I love. However, I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth the $20....Maybelline will always be one of my all time favorite drugstore brands.

Why is the perfect mascara so hard to find!? Right now I'm using Cover Girl's Lash Blast. I've been pretty happy with it, but then again I've just given up trying to find "the one", haha. :)
