Herbal Essences Honey I'm Strong Shampoo and Conditioner Review

You know you're a beauty blogger when...your little brother comes over to take a shower after swim practice. And after 8 minutes, he walks out, claiming to have just taken the longest shower in his life. When you ask why, he says that it's because there are so many bottles around your bathtub. (And you know for a fact that there's only face wash, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap.) Then you asked him, cautiously, exactly how many things he used.

His response? All of them.

"I smell so good," he claims.

Well, little brother, here's one more to the collection. I got this shampoo and conditioner set after hearing about it from the ladies at Her Late Night Cravings. This is a relatively new line of products. Here's the short review:I like it, but I don't love it.

Here's the long review:I feel like everything about this shampoo is just satisfactory. The scent, the cleaning properties, the conditioning properties... It all works, just nothing to rave or rant about. The scent isn't a super sweet honey, like Lush's Honey I Washed the Kids. There's more of a floral note to it. For some reason, the scent is stronger in the shampoo than the conditioner. I think the shampoo works okay though I think I preferred Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair better. I feel like my hair gets greasier faster with this shampoo.

The conditioner is almost below par because I've tried so many great conditioners. It doesn't match up to the Aussie Three Minute Miracle or the Aveeno Nourish and Condition Leave in Treatment.

  1. omg that is exactly what my brother says! When he's home, he always takes the longest showers because he says he loves trying all the different bottles - all at once of course ahah

  2. I used to really love Herbel Essences shampoo, but lately I've found that they are just okay. Like you said, nothing to rave or rant about. I do love Dove, I feel like I really get a good cleaning afterwards.

  8. I was actually thinking Honey I Washed the Kids when I clicked on this (and was hoping that's what it smelled like) I think if it doesn't smell like that, I'm going to have to pass. I can only see myself getting disappointed.

    1. Actually... now that you put it that way, I love seeing what others have in their showers. I watch a shameful number of bathroom tours.

  11. I love the Aveeno conditioner too!!
I'm very picky about my products...not only do they need to smell delicious and make me feel pampered but they need to leave my hair glowing and soft.
So it's better to stay with the products that do that for us ;)

  14. Pretty much a perfect review. I smelled these in the store and they smelled too floral and not honey sweet, like I expected. I have basically stopped using Herbal Essences because most of their products end up giving me a headache from the perfumes and they only perform "okay" anyway. Dove is pretty much a winner - agreed. And the story from the beginning - awesome! :)

  18. Great review! I always really like the scents of Herbal Essences but I'm never overly impressed with the actual product. I still purchase every so often though!

  23. Haven't tried Herbal Essences shampoos or conditioners in yonks! I've been loyal to Pantene for ages. But the scent sounds fascinating, even if it's not super strong and it's mixed with floral notes :)
