The MOST BASIC Work Outfit

Due to a new location, I've been really slacking on outfit photos. I'm working on getting a good location and setting up lighting, etc. Work in progress, all over again. I miss my wall. In the meantime though, here's a boring cellphone picture of the most boring Work Outfit in the world.

White shirt, black pants, black bag.

Necklace: Tiffany's (Gift)
Blouse: Halogen ($21.99, on sale from $36.10)
Pants: Gap ($35.00)
Bag: Target ($24.48, on sale from $34.99)

In all honesty, I HATE this outfit. I feel like no matter the fit of the clothing, I'll always look like a child in this outfit. It's as if I'm wearing my father's clothing.

Do you ever wear this combo? Or do you opt for something with a bit more flair?

  1. I'm the LAST person to ask for clothing advice because I'm just about as boring as it gets. Pants = black, gray, or brown. Shoes = black or beige. Purse = same 2-3 ones all year. Shirt = at least I'll mix it up with subdued prints but mostly solids. I think you look professional and not at all like a child!

  2. I tend to prefer a little color thrown in my outfits for fun!

  5. Ah work outfits are usually uncomfortable and never feel as good as something we would wear if we had a choice!

Black and white is a classic though :) You could always add some colourful accessories to add your own touch, if your workplace rules allow of course!

  6. Not boring - classic! I've had an aversion to button down shirts since that's all I wore for a good five year stretch... The silk kind though, that I can do

  7. I tend to wear color most days but I have worn this outfit in the past. Sometimes I need a professional outfit but have no time so I have relied on this combo a few times.

  10. Hey, sometimes you just need to get dressed and get out the door, and that qualifies as a success for the day! You look very professional in this classic ensemble though.

  11. When I needed to get dressed up for work I would be pretty boring and basic but looking back on it, I think I like it. Like your look here. It looks really clean and simple and you look great!

  12. I think it depends on what shoes you wear with the outfit! A pair of high heels makes all the diffference x

  13. I like this, very European! I would wear a black a-line skirt maybe with a white collar button-up top for work. But currently my everyday bag is a vintage colored brown boyfriend messenger.

  14. Of course I wear this combo! Especially for interviews :) white shirts definitely make us appear smarter and more professional.
p.s. I like wearing pants to work too!

  16. It is pretty plain, and I see why you would feel like you look young in it. A different shirt would make a world of difference. I don't think I even OWN a plain white button-down like that.
