OVERHYPED?! - John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Serum Review

I buy most of my products based on reviews given by other bloggers. You know those items that everyone seems to love? That's what I go for. Now, skin types, hair types and personal needs are different between everyone, so some things that are highly rated may seem overrated to you if it doesn't work as well. For these types of items, I'll label them "OVERHYPED?!". I'll try out those things that you've heard of a million times and tell you if it did, or did not work for me. Hopefully it'll spur some discussion!

Let's start with the John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Serum! I wanted this to tame and protect my hair when curling.

The smell is amazing. I think it does protect my hair without making it greasy but I wouldn't say it's a miracle product. I like using this before I curl or straighten my hair. It definitely prevents from the dryness that I experience if I did not use this.

What will you use to condition your hair in the cold winter months to come?

  2. I used to read Allure magazine for such reviews of new products. Good ole days of print. Thanks for sharing your review of this frizz control. I'm TRYING to use argan oil after washing my hair, but I'm so lazy I don't most of the time.

  7. I've never used this product before! I'm not sure that it would help me since I don't apply heat to my hair, but I can see how others would love it!

  8. I'm not sure if this happened to you, but using this stuff always made my hair greasy in half the time it usually would!

  9. Most hair products leave my hair greasy. It's such a dilemma!

  10. I just use regular conditioned, with an occasional deep conditioner. But I don't curl or flatiron my hair, and I'm a bit oily anyway

  11. I don't have a frizz issue, but I adore the John Frieda shampoo and conditioner meant to prevent brassiness in blondes... I forget the name. The bottle used to be purple, but they've changed it. It's great for protecting my "cool" tone of dark ask brown. Otherwise, it tends to redden as it grows out, which I HATE!!!

  12. John Frieda products have been a hit or miss with me. Lately I've been using a shampoo / conditioner duo that is a total hit; but I wasn't a fan of the 'Brilliant Brunette' line.

  13. My scalp gets oily while the ends tend to get all dry...gah...my hair's a mystery to me. I have no idea how people keep it shiny without turning into a greaseball... May have to check this out this winter...my hair is already frizzing....

  14. I used a similar product from the JF, i think it's the one with a clear bottle/blue or purple. Anyway, i did like it for a long time until I changed to Argan oil. This stuff makes my hair greasy and my hair needs to be wash in just 2 days. Thanks for stopping by my blog again.

  16. I've been using Aveda dry remedy moisturizing oil lately and it's great... no silicone and non-greasy. I love the smell of Aveda products too! Hope you're having a wonderful week!

  17. I absolutely HATE The cold months for hair, because my head gets so flaky from the heater running. I like that this product is non-greasy. Most of the time, I have good luck with John Freida products.

  18. Haha as a Muslim who covers her hair, I am totally confused on what all this means--I just put my hear up, put on a scarf, and I'm good to go! I'm always thankful, especially in winter, that I cover my hair because I think then my hair doesn't get damaged (not to mention my ears stay warm hehe) but I think it's really great of you to try to go beyond the "over-hype" of products that are on all blogs and be honest about how well things are working!
