Matte Green Gradient Nails featuring Revlon Matte Topcoat!

I think I somehow forgot to share this... but I shouldn't be surprised because I forget things often.

I've always wanted a matte topcoat and when I was doing some retail therapy once, I splurged on the Revlon Matte Topcoat. It was a few dollars more expensive than my normal polishes but I love it a ton!

I just put the topcoat over this white and green gradient. I find that the topcoat is great for any weird texture issues on your polishes. I pretty much want to use the topcoat ALL the time now, but I also want to save it. But you know when your nail polish is too old and it starts drying? I think I'm just going to start using it liberally now, because I'd rather use it up too fast than have it dry out on me!

Finally, my Aztec Summer Dress!

After posting so much about my love for the aztec print, I finally bit the bullet and got a dress. This is actually one of the dresses I was looking at in my last post about aztec prints.
Dress: H&M (21.21)
Purse: China (46.67)
Shoes: Aldo (49.50 on sale from 70.00)

After so much searching, I'm quite happy with this dress! I think the front view is much more flattering than the side view, but I do like the subtle hi-low hem. I like that the dress looks nice for dressier occasions, but nobody is going to bat an eye if you wear it grocery shopping either. That's been my problem lately... buying dresses that are too formal. Then I'm left with nothing to wear for a casual trip to the grocery store.

ELF Translucent Matifying Powder

Another item from the ELF Haul. I got this product especially for the summer. In the 120 degree weather, walking across a parking lot is no joke. If you put foundation on, prepare to have it all sweat off. I once walked across campus and then sweatily answered my phone... when I finished the call, I discovered that a ton of my tinted moisturizer had come off on to my phone. GROSS.

I wanted to use a clear powder with no coverage to set my makeup. ... and the ELF Translucent Matifying Powder is what I decided on.

As you can see, there's a bit of color to the product but I don't think it really shows up on my skintone. However, this gives you crazy coverage. I don't like a lot of coverage because I feel like it makes my skin look fake and it's really obvious I'm wearing makeup. I have a few sunspots on my face and while I don't like them, I don't want them covered up either. I'm just  difficult, I guess. I wouldn't say it's a cakey look, but it's a poreless look and I find that very latexy. For those of you who are shiny and looking for something matifying with coverage, this is your product!

As for me, it doesn't do a great job of keeping foundation on my face. It works up to a certain degree, as in from my car to the parking lot is okay. However, I don't expect it to keep my foundation from sliding if I am going to be spending the day outside. That being said, this powder never claimed to be a primer or a setting powder or even longlasting. I'll use the rest of the product, but I think I have to invest in a face primer eventually!

Graze Box Number 4

Check out what I got in my 4th Graze Box! Graze Box is a subscription service that sells healthy snacks in lovely little containers. Each Graze Box, containing 4 snacks, is only 5 bucks! Given that I love Cheetos and Little Debbie Cakes, I think this box is a great alternative to those snacks. The variety of snacks keeps me interested and going back for more. I think I might stop doing these reviews once I get repeat snacks... but that hasn't happened yet! For more reviews, check out my 3rd Graze Box, 2nd Graze Box, and 1st Graze Box. Without further ado... the grub!

Very Nori-ish - japanese seaweed rice crackers
These have a rather simple taste to them. If you like seaweed, you'll love these. They have the same flavor, just in a rice cracker texture. Like I said before, I love their rice crackers.

Banoffee Pie - fudge pieces, almond slices, pecan nuts and banana coins
I love their fudge pieces and surprisingly,  their pecan nuts. The almond slices were alright but I was not 100% fan of their banana chips. I think it's just another fruit I prefer normal instead of dried.

Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack -rustic rolled oat flapjack with apple and cinnamon
Every time I try one of their new flapjacks, it's my new favorite one. This one's great. Not as sweet as the last one which was the summer berry flapjack.

Strawberry Milkshakemini strawberries, white chocolate buttons and banana coins
Graze uses a lot of the same ingredients in their boxes. This is both good and bad for me. The banana chips I wasn't a fan of in the Banoffee Pie made an appearance here. However, I got some delicious to die for white chocolate buttons too. The strawberries were quite good in taste but had a weird dried texture I wasn't a fan of.

You can use the code 4L9CXHJ to try your first Grazebox for free!

The Odo Story

I've always wanted a dog. When I was younger, I grew up in cities like NY, Detroit and Beijing where dogs were pretty rare. When I moved out to Arizona, I discovered I had allergies to dogs and cats so I avoided most of them. But I've always loved dogs... they're just so cute! My parents are not animal lovers and I was no where near mature enough in high school to own a pet. After I moved out on my own, I was too busy with extracurricular to take care of a pet. And... I was still allergic.

Fast forward to a month or two ago. I just moved in with my boyfriend and I'd look at dogs to adopt. I researched what dogs were hypoallergenic and checked each dog available for adoption to see if they matched. However, I had never owned a dog before and I was so, so nervous about getting one. I started going to the local Petsmart every Saturday while a local shelter would bring their animals.

One Saturday, I asked a few questions about a dog. Filled out an application. Then, $500 later, this happened.

The first thing Odo did when he came home was poop on the floor. Then he hid from us for the rest of the night. The image above is blurry because he wouldn't let anyone near him. For his first walk... we had to catch him first.

Part of me still can't believe I own a dog. Part of me can't believe he's come so far in such a short time. He now knows his name and lives up to the title of "Velcro" dog... meaning that he walks wherever you walk. Bathroom break? He'll follow you. Part of me can't believe that he's wormed his way into my heart in such a short time.  He's not what I expected or wanted. I wanted an older dog, not a puppy. I wanted a fat dog, not one of the leanest breeds out there. At first I was only going to let him in the living room and not on any furniture. But when he cuddled up next to me on the sofa, I let him stay. When I tried to have him sleep in a bathroom or a crate during the night, he cried (and destroyed a door). Now he's allowed in the bedroom. We're still trying to keep him off the beds though. ;) Then, there's a part of me that knows he has a bit farther to go. It ranges from the serious (he has socialization problems and fears all other dogs and humans) to the trivial (his ears stick straight up but they're supposed to fold down). Then there's the part where we want him to learn sit and stay and roll over..

But a bit more about Odo. He's a six month old Whippet/Italian Greyhound mix (we think). He is quite energetic and a little submissive. He goes crazy when you come home... even if you were only gone to take out the trash. He is as comfortable on two legs as four and can hop really, really high. Lastly, but not least, he's a new member of my family.

Phoenix Comiccon 2013

Phoenix Comiccon is the "southwest pop culture event". I went last year and it was an absolute blast. This year, I didn't take nearly as many pictures but I still do have some to share!

Last year I went on Sunday, which was a rather low key day. I wanted to go on Sunday again this year but things didn't work out and I actually ended up going on Saturday... the busiest day! You see this intersection below? This got SO filled with people that we had to wait like cars while convention personnel directed traffic flow.

As the day went on, the place got busier and busier. I actually went a few blocks off the convention for lunch and afternoon alcohols.

On the other hand, as expected, there were awesome cosplays all over the place. I was pretty bad about getting pictures with people though. There were always so many people surrounding cosplayers and I was feeling shy.

The TARDIS, K-9 and some Daleks I saw last time were also there again.

This was one of the only pictures of myself I got that day. And I only took this picture to show my friend where I was in the convention center.

This is my awesome friend and I. She's dressed up as Buttercup. I didn't realize she was so much taller than me!

Last year when I went, I wasn't really into gaming. But after Geek and Sundry came out with Tabletop, I'm in love with the concept of casual tabletop gaming. This entire area (about the size of a hotel lobby) was dedicated to tabletop gaming!

And I actually have a clear shot of the Iron Man poster but I decided to post this one... because the fact that I inadvertently caught this scene is hilarious.

Lastly, this was another gaming room... but video games this time.

After seeing all that awesome footage from San Diego Comiccon... I realized I had to share my little experience this year!

Link Up: Times of Change

It's that time again, when I share some links with you of stuff I've really liked.

In additional to changing weather (I can't believe it's still snowing in some of your areas!?!) I'm also going through a change in my life from student to working adult. That's what I'm really excited about and nervous about this month.
